La dama boba

Poster design for the theatrical play The Foolish Lady, by Lope de Vega. Rodrigo Arribas and the Siglo de Oro Foundation have once again entrusted me to compose the image for this production, which premieres in the summer and features a team of Spanish creators versed in the Golden Age theatre.

The tricky thing about this kind of project is the absolute lack of pictures of the play: there is no scene photography at the time I start working, so it’ s a task totally conceptual. My mission is to dive into the verses towards the heart and spirit of the play, in search of symbols, metaphors and representations of the events, of the essence of the text. That is why it has been a true pleasure and a real challenge to be part of this new FuSO project, and to have counted on the guidance, drive and genius of Julio Hidalgo and Rodrigo Arribas, who helped me to find the path through Finea’s tangle of emotions.
